12v GSL Advanced Micro-Controlled Electronic Brake Controller. The EBC-12 is an advanced electronic brake controller designed for trailers. Utilizing microprocessor-based technology, these controllers offer precise braking control. They are suitable for both single and dual axle trailers operating on negative earth (ground) systems.

Specifications

  • Minimum Input Voltage: 9 VDC
  • Nominal Input Voltage: 12 VDC
  • Maximum Input Voltage: 15 VDC
  • Output Voltage: 12V
  • Current Load: No load - 30 mA; Maximum load - 2 Axle / 12A Avg
  • Dimensions: 40mm x 80mm x 125mm
  • Weight: 270gm

Features

  • Digital display for accurate setup and ease of use.
  • Selectable three-position ramp-up for brake speed.
  • Easy adjustment via two push-buttons.
  • 2 Axle 12A output capability.
  • Open circuit and overload indication and protection.
  • Top or bottom mounting via the multi-position bracket.
  • Convenient over-ride slide lever.
  • Can be mounted at any angle.

Installation Instructions

  1. Disconnect Vehicle’s Negative Battery Terminal: Ensure the vehicle is off and disconnected from its power source.
  2. Mounting Location: Choose a solid surface that is easily accessible to the driver. Secure the mounting bracket with self-tapping screws, ensuring not to over-tighten.
  3. Wiring Connections:
    • White Wire: 0V DC (Ground)
    • Blue Wire: Brake (Connect to the trailer brake wire)
    • Black Wire: +VDC (Power supply line)
    • Red Wire: Brake Switch (Connect to the cold side of the brake light switch)
Important: Ensure the unit is properly grounded to prevent intermittent operation or failure. Do not connect the black wire to the fuse panel or accessory wiring to avoid damage.

Note: An external 15A fuse must be fitted on the blue wire (not supplied).

Set-up & Operation

  • Setting the Braking Force - Adjust the brake intensity using the up and down arrow buttons in 01 increments, from 15 up to a maximum of 99. A low setting or "O.C." display indicates a low braking force or open circuit. To troubleshoot, set the control to 50 and retest. If "O.C." persists, check for wiring issues or brake coil faults

  • Ramp-Up Feature - Adjust the ramp-up feature by pressing both face buttons together. There are four settings:

  • 00: No ramp-up (instant braking)
  • 01: Fast ramp-up
  • 02: Medium ramp-up
  • 03: Slow ramp-up

This feature allows for gradual increase in braking force up to the set level of intensity, suitable for different towing conditions.

Fault Indication

  • O.C.: Indicates low brake force or open circuit. Check for disconnected wires or faulty brake coils.
  • O.L.: Indicates overload. Reduce load or check for short circuit on output.
